10-year-old Boy Kills BestFriend

<-----12-year-old victim
They were outside their home with 2 other boys playing with fake swords and out of nowhere the 10-year-old who remains anonymous grabbed a kitchen knife and killed his 12-year-old best friend. 10-year-old suspect remains in juvenile hall for the time being. The boy claimed “not true” to the question of if he did kill his best friend. The 10-year-old has been labeled by locals “angry at times” and had really bad rage fits. He was on medication for this and was in a rage when stabbed best friend. How could anyone send a 10-year-old to jail? Prosecutors state the they will try and get. If this CHILD goes to jail now he will get out at 25. With the same rage fits and same mental conditions. They don’t give them much help in a juvenile hall so what would it do to send this CHILD to jail?

  1. I partly see this as very concerning that a 10 year old would kill his friend. That is very disturbing. Sending him to jail is debatable, but where else could you send him? Keep him under surveillance and heavy medication with armored guards? Personally there isn't much choice aside from Jail and Therapy

  2. This is a really sad story. I don't think the child should go to jail. Maybe get some help and go to counseling, but the fact remains that he is still a miner and is still considered a CHILD. Meaning he legally can not make choices, also meaning that his view of right and wrong are dependent of what his parents teach him.

  3. I think that you should give him an education and kept in jail. He still killed someone, even though he's 10 it was still wrong and should be punished.

  4. I agree with afton. Its still considered murder. Him having an anger problem really isn't an excuse. Where were the parents at? How do you just let a 10 year old take a kitchen knife? Obviously, hes not mentally right. If he doesn't get jailed for this, he'll never know that he did something wrong. Counseling will help, but honestly, i don't think it will stop his problem. I can see him becoming a mass-murderer in the future. Jail him.

  5. Tell tale signs of a sociopath... This kid doesn't need to be locked away for the peak of his life, he needs medical help so he can get better. Maybe once he matures and realizes the gravity of the situation his own guilt will be punishment enough.

  6. I think he needs major mental help. Counseling and such would be good for him, and also to keep all sharp objects far away from him. Might be a good idea to child proof the house and hide all the kitchen knives out of his reach... Either way he needs help for those anger problems, but jail might only make it worse if he has to deal with all those people in jail while only being ten. In the future he might realize his mistake and that will be tourcher enough, for now he only needs help. As for his best friend, I hope he has a happy life in whatever happens after death, and has hopefully forgiven his friend's... anger... Yeah, they might want to think about getting that ten year old some better medication and help.
